Shot blasting
We offer shot blasting services, which are sometimes confused with sand blasting. The main difference between these processes is the type of abrasive used to clean the surface. At Promet Ltd, we use shot blast abrasive from the German company Ervin.
In our equipment there is an centrifugal wheel blast machine with loading window with dimensions: 1.8 m width; 0.75 m high and up to 16 m long (with a single pass through the blasting chamber).
We also have two manual, air shot blast chambers with the following dimensions: length 16m; width 6m; 5m high, in which we provide, traditional shot blasting services with the use of angular shot blast abrasives.
Adjustment of operating parameters and a wide selection of abrasives allows for various classes of surface cleanliness.
Surface Preparation by blast cleaning is designated by the letters “Sa”:
- Sa1: Light blast cleaning – When viewed without magnification, the surface shall be free from visible oil, grease and dirt, and from poorly adhering mill scale, rust, paint coatings and foreign matter.
- Sa2: Thorough blast cleaning – When viewed without magnification, the surface shall be free from visible oil, grease and dirt, and from most of the mill scale, rust, paint coatings and foreign matter. Any residual contamination shall be firmly adhering.
- Sa2,5: Very thorough blast cleaning – When viewed without magnification, the surface shall be free from visible oil, grease and dirt, and from mill scale, rust, paint coatings and foreign matter. Any remaining traces of contamination shall show only as slight stains in the form of spots or stripes.
- Sa3: Blast cleaning to visually clean steel – When viewed without magnification, the surface shall be free from visible oil, grease and dirt, and from mill scale, rust, paint coatings and foreign matter. It shall have a uniform metallic colour.
